From heavy rollers down to vibratory plates – Ammann have the broadest range of compaction equipment in the market. Incorporating Rammax trench technology, the Ammann compaction equipment offers the high quality you would expect from a Swiss company still owned and run by the founders family.

Founded by Jakob Ammann in 1869, the World’s first Ammann motorised road roller was developed in 1911 and the start of the complete line of compaction products available today. Through constant innovation and acquisition of complementary compaction manufacturers the Ammann range now spans from 50 kg Rammers to Articulated Tandem Rollers.

Having produced its first dual tandem vibratory roller in 1964 in Langenthal, Switzerland the takeover of Duomat complemented the range. The factory in Hennef, Germany now produces Rammers, both forward and reverse Vibratory Plates and Walk-behind Rollers.

In 1995 the acquisition of Rammax added the specialist range of Trench Rollers to the portfollio and in 2005 the purchase of Stavostroj (STA) of the Czech Republic increased the range of Heavy Tandem Vibratory Rollers and Pneumatic Tyred Rollers (PTR).

Compaction products were first introduced to the UK market in the 1970’s. Following on from the initial success of the first dealers, the Ammann Group opened a wholly owned subsidiary, Ammann Equipment Ltd, in 1989 to distribute and support Ammann and Rammax products in the UK and Eire. In December 2013 the company became A&Y Equipment Ltd, separating from the Ammann Group.

A&Y Equipment Ltd now work in close partnership with Nuttall Plant Sales to bring you an extensive portfolio of products from the true innovators of compaction.
